Laurinburg man charged with shooting eight-year-old playing in yard
LAURINBURG — An arrest was made after an 8-year-old was shot playing in his yard on Sunday. According to Capt. Chris Young with the Laurinburg Police Department, officers responded to Marcellus Street around 2:10 p.m. for shots fired. Officers found an 8-year-old with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the leg and learned that while the child was playing outside a black vehicle drove by and began firing from the vehicle.

Man stabbed during robbery
LAURINBURG — A 61-year-old male was stabbed Wednesday while walking. According to a report from the Laurinburg Police Department, the man was walking in the area of Gulf Street around 11:15 a.m. when he was approached by two black males. The man was assaulted and stabbed during the altercation.

Two shootings leave two injured
LAURINBURG — Two people were shot during different incidents in the city Thursday. According to Capt. Chris Young with the Laurinburg Police Department, around 1:30 p.m. officers, were called to Scotland Memorial Hospital in reference to a gunshot victim. Officers spoke with a 28-year-old male from Glenn Street who had suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.

LAURINBURG — A 13-year-old and a 25-year-old were arrested Thursday afternoon in connection to a shooting. According to Capt. Chris Young with the Laurinburg Police Department, officers responded to McIntosh Apartments on Hood Street around noon in reference to shots fired. When officers arrived on the scene they observed two males with firearms fitting the description that had been given during the shots fired call.

Two local Eagle Scouts honored at banquet

Laurel Hill Community Center now offering room rentals
LAUREL HILL— Those looking for spaces to rent have to look no further than the Laurel Hill Community Center. Three rooms are available for rent at the community center, the Eagle Room which can fit 49 people, the Leopard Room which can fit 35 people, and the gymnasium which has a capacity of 264. The cost for the Eagle and Leopard rooms is $30 while the cost for the gym is $40.
