When Cruze Farm will open its new downtown location, with biscuits and more
Colleen Cruze Bhatti and her husband Manjit Bhatti are feeling sentimental about Cruze Farm's new downtown location. The beloved Knoxville ice cream shop and dairy farm announced in December that its 445 S. Gay St. location would be closed for a short time to move to into a bigger space just next door. A little more than a month later, the new space is set to open at 5 p.m. Feb. 13, as long as they get their final permit, Colleen told Knox News. The new Cruze Farm shop is in the same building as the previous one, but it's almost triple the size, has a full kitchen and will offer expanded hours and menu. It will be open 8 a.m.-9 p.m. daily. Biscuits are making a comeback on the new menu after they were one of the earliest offerings when Cruze Farm was just a food truck . Laura Lang, who was a pastry chef at Blackberry Farm for two years, has joined the Cruze Farm team as culinary director. She told Knox News the expanded food menu should be available in March, including biscuits, breakfast sandwiches with Benton's bacon and locally sourced sausage, K Brew coffee and local

Chick-n-Sack Bringing the Spice to Downtown Knoxville at New Location
Chick-n-Sack, which has built a devoted local following, will plant its first brick and mortar (U.S.!) location at 410 West Jackson Avenue, former home of Sweet P’s Downtown Dive. The new location culminates quite a journey by owner James “Boo” Jackson. He wasn’t born here, moved here, left for another country, returned, and with his culinary ventures in recent years, has planted a very Knoxville flag. I caught up with him by phone to learn about the path that brought him to this pending location.

Dessert highlight of lunch at two West Knoxville eateries | Grub Scout
The Grub Spouse was unable to tag along on the day I had planned to do my latest lunch outing. So I found myself traveling solo to two different destinations — Fruition Café and Moonshine Mountain Cookie Company , both of which are on or near Kingston Pike, west of Pellissippi Parkway. I started out at Fruition Café on West End Avenue, behind the McDonald’s on Kingston Pike. That independently owned eatery specializes in paninis and other sandwiches and offers a wide selection of smoothies as well. Among the dozen paninis described on the overhead menu board (and on a separate chalkboard menu), options include chicken ranch, avocado veggie, turkey chipotle, a chicken or tuna melt, and cranberry turkey. I took advantage of one of the value meals, which (for the most part) are sandwich-smoothie combos. I got half an Italian panini (ham, pepperoni, red onion, pepperoncini, provolone cheese and Italian dressing) and a small strawberry-banana smoothie — all that and a literal bag of chips for $9.52 (before tip). I had hoped for a hot cup or bowl of soup that day, but unfortunately for me, no soups had been made. Before I share my opinion of my meal,

Rogersville Cinema 4 to Reopen
Rogersville will soon have a movie theater again. Rogersville Cinema 4 closed its doors on September 18, 2020, after 15 years in business. Micah and Julie Petoskey and their son, Jordan, hope to have the theater open sometime in March. The Petoskey family moved here on February 15, 2025, from the town of Baraga, Michigan, on the upper peninsula. Micah remembered “My family rented cabins in Gatlinburg for vacation and we loved it! We’ve been all over the country and we liked this area the best.” The decision to move south wasn’t easy. The Petoskeys had roots in Michigan. Micah and Julie both are Native Americans. “There is a town in Michigan named Petoskey,” Micah explained. “It’s known for being a vacation spot for Ernest Hemingway. The Petoskey stone is the state stone on Michigan. We both had good jobs with over 20 years’ experience.” Julie added, “When we came here on vacation, it was hard to leave to go home! This is the only place other than the Upper Peninsula that I could see myself living.” They joked about moving here, but Jordan said “then the conversation turned serious.” Micah took a job with PDS in Morristown. They saw
