    Vote now: Gavin Steadman's dominant effort highlights this week's Tremendous 10 poll

    Baseball, softball and boys volleyball were deep in district tournaments last week and featured some top performances and upsets. Here are this week's nominees for The Ledger's Tremendous 10 poll. The poll is open until noon on Friday.

    In last week's poll, Santa Fe's Michael Welling finished with 39.8 percent of the vote to finish ahead of Victory Christian's Keely Ortiz, who was second with 27.8 percent. More than 91,000 votes were cast.

    1 Santa Fe Catholic junior Gavin Steadman (baseball) hurled a three-hitter with six strikeouts in seven innings in a victory over Lakeland Christian in the district championship game. He also batted .333 with two doubles and two runs scored. For the season, he is 9-1 with a 1.73 ERA and has 100 strikeouts in 60 2/3 innings and is batting .317 with 13 extra-base hits and 22 RBIs.

    2 Fort Meade eighth-grader Marleigh Carroll (softball) batted .429 (3 for 7) with a triple, two RBIs and three runs scored. For the season, she is batting .513 with 16 extra-base hits and 30 RBIs.

    3 George Jenkins freshman Kamryn Wallisa (softball) batted .833 (5 for 6) with two doubles and five RBIs. For the season, she is batting .329 with 13 extra-base hits with 18 RBIs.

    The Ledger's Tremendous 10 Poll

    4 Lake Region junior Margaret “Chic” Jenkins (softball) batted .500 (4 for 8) with a double, three runs scored and one RBI in last week’s district tournament. For the season, she is batting .320 with 10 extra-base hits and 11 RBIs.

    5 George Jenkins pitcher Austin Dadey (baseball) threw a shutout for 6 2/3 innings and allowed just four hits with 10 strikeouts. For the season, he is 2-2 with a 2.10 ERA.

    6 Lake Wales pitcher Gage Chandley (baseball) pitched a two-hit shutout with eight strikeouts against Auburndale in the district semifinals. For the season, he is 4-3 with a 0.87 ERA with 80 strikeouts in 48 1/3 innings.

    7 Bartow senior Julia Heter (softball) batted .600 (3 for 5) with a doubles, three RBIs and two runs scored. For the season, she is batting .417 with nine extra-base hits and 24 RBIs.

    8 Mulberry senior Felipe Cusmanich (boys volleyball) finished with 14 kills, 17 digs, seven blocks and two aces in a 1A-12 district semifinal victory over George Jenkins. For the season, he has 175 kills, 203 digs, 25 blocks and 27 aces.

    9 Lake Wales junior Leslie Franco Zapien (softball) .429 (3 for 7) with a double, triple and two RBIs in the district tournament. For the season, she is batting .309 with 11 RBIs.

    10 Lakeland senior AJ Sierra (baseball) went 2 for 7 with three RBIs and a double. For the season, he is batting .343 with 12 extra-base hits and 24 RBIs.
