Track and field: Lakeside sweeps home triple dual against Lake Mills, Poynette

Lakeside Lutheran’s boys and girls track and field teams swept a Capitol North triple dual against visiting Lake Mills and Poynette on Tuesday, April 16.

The Warriors boys swept the top three spots in the 100 meter dash. Junior Ben Krauklis won in 11.24 seconds, followed by senior Alex Reinke (11.53) and junior Issiah Sampson (11.74).

Sweeping the top three spots in the 200 were Krauklis (23.60), junior Josef Rupnow (24.32) and sophomore Tyler Schuld (25.35).

Freshman Jack Thiele won the 400 in 54.70. Senior Gideon Ewerdt won the 1,600 in 4:42.79. Senior Cameron Weiland won the 3,200 in 9:39.73 while senior Mark Garcia was second in 10:46.78.

Senior Joey Dretske was second in the 110 high hurdles in 17.50.

Junior Will Hemling took third in the 800 in 2:16.73.

The 400 relay team of Rupnow, senior Tyler Tauscheck, Schuld and sophomore Preston May placed second in 47.17.

The 800 relay team of Krauklis, Sampson, junior Tyler Dahlie and Reinke won in 1:35.13. The 1,600 relay team of senior Daniel Ertman, junior Carson Frisch, Dahlie and Reinke won in 3:40.41.

The 3,200 relay team of sophomore Gavin Dahl, juniors Jack Simmons and Will Hemling and sophomore Owen Jensen won in 9:18.35.

Sweeping the high jump were Dahlie (6-0) and juniors Joah Robinson (5-8) and Carson Frisch (5-6). Juniors Nolan Schweighardt and Brandon Genz took first and second, respectively, in the pole vault at 10-6 and 9-0.

Dahlie won the triple jump (40-5 1/2) while junior Jonathan Schmidt was third (35-4).

Senior Reid Weittenhiller was second in the shot put (41-9) and the discus (111-10).

Lakeside’s girls swept the 100. Junior Cecilia Krahn won in 14.24, followed by freshman Taryn Jobke (14.41) and senior Wedmerline Schultz (15.05).

Sweeping the top three spots in the 200 were junior Ella Schuetz (28.68), sophomore Sophia Rhyner (29.17) and Schulz (31.18).

In the 400, senior Paige Krahn was second in 1:06.33 while sophomore Grace Zhou was third in 1:13.81. In the 800, freshmen Hannah Minning and Natalie Schultz finished second and third, respectively, in 2:43.09 and 2:46.11.

In the 1,600, junior Ashley Rosenau was second in 6:09.13 while senior Amelia Povich was third in 6:11.34.

Senior Elida Nerothin was third in the 100 hurdles in 18.53.

The 400 relay team of Cecilia Krahn, Jobke, Schuetz and Rhyner won in 54.74. The same foursome won the 800 relay in 1:55.97

The 1,600 relay team of junior Kate Thiele, Povich, sophomore Molly Wiedenfeld and junior Mara Minning won in 4:46.92. The 3,200 relay team of Schulz, freshman Nadia Murphy, Paige Krahn and Hannah Minning won in 11:09.85.

Sweeping the shot put were seniors Brielle Leis (34-5) and Ava Stein (31-3) and junior Audra Kopfer (30-5 1/2). Scoring another sweep in the discus were Leis (89-1), sophomore Sophia Bostetter (83-8) and Kopfer (83-4).

In the high jump, Schuetz placed second (4-6) while sophomore Ruby Nerothin was third (4-4). In the pole vault, junior Elaina Litherland took second (7-0) while Jobke was third (6-6).

Schuetz won the long jump (14-8 1/4) while Mara Minning was third (13-4).

The Lake Mills boys lost to Lakeside while defeating Poynette.

The 400 relay team of juniors Mason Fuglestad and Max Ruedebusch, sophomore Gibson Quandt and freshman Dylan Brinkmann won in 46.87.

Sophomore Max Springer was second in the 400 in 56.63 while senior Jack Phillips was third in 57.16. Junior Saul Lopez was second in the 800 in 2:15.91.

Junior Braxton Walter was third in the 1,600 in 5:01.79.

Junior Max Kressner was third in the 3,200 in 11:42.12. Senior Nathan Brzowski won the 300 hurdles in 43.82 and took third in the 110 high hurdles in 17.64. Junior Chet Klawitter was third in the 300 hurdles in 47.56.

The 1,600 relay team of senior Jack Phillips, Klawitter, Springer and Brzowski took second in 3:52.80.

The 3,200 relay team of Kressner, junior Clovis Cormier-Tardif, freshman Adam Hartman and Phillips took second in 9:27.58.

Junior Tommy Cassady won the shot put (51-2) while junior Nate Hahn was third (38-10 1/4). Cassady also won the discus (115-5) while sophomore Esteban Moreno was third (110-2).

Fuglestad took third in the long jump (17-7 3/4).

The Lake Mills girls lost to Lakeside and Poynette.

Senior Ava Vesperman won the 400 in 1:05.56. Junior Savannah Overhouse won the 3,200 in 15:02.81.

Sweeping the 300 meter hurdles were freshman Veronica Kressner (55.34), junior Nina Sehmer (55.66) and senior Kate Gero (56.79).

Gero was second in the 100 hurdles in 18.38.

The 1,600 relay team of Kressner, Vesperman, sophomore Asha Herald and Sehmer took third in 4:55.68. The 3,200 relay team of Vesperman, Asha Herald, Kressner and Sehmer placed third in 11:42.27.
