    Elkton-Lake Benton wins boys division for the fourth consecutive year

    ESTELLINE — Deubrook Area's girls ended Colman-Egan's three-year reign and Elkton-Lake Benton's boys pushed their title streak to four in the Dakota Valley Conference track and field meet on Thursday.

    The Dolphins won the girls division by a 138-130 margin. Arlington was third at 90, followed by Estelline-Hendricks 73, Dell Rapids St. Mary 72, Elkton-Lake Benton 62, Castlewood 56, De Smet 50, Oldham-Ramona-Rutland 35 and Iroquois-Lake Preston 33.

    Elkton-Lake Benton ruled the boys division with 186 points, followed by Deubrook Area at 135.5, Colman-Egan 102, Dell Rapids St. Mary 81, De Smet 73, Castlewood 68, Estelline-Hendricks 47, Iroquois-Lake Preston 32.5, Arlington 20 and Oldham-Ramona-Rutland 6.

    Girls Division Highlights

    Nora Olsen won the 800-meter (2:26.85) and 1,600-meter (5:28.77) runs for the Dolphins, who also got event wins from Akasha Gorecki (100 hurdles, 16.05) and Kylee Johnson (200 dash, 1:01.27). Makenna Ekern, Tenley Schulz, Kadence Bowne and Ava Crooks combined to the the 3,200 (10:31.84 relay).

    Hadlee Holt of Iroquois-Lake Preston won the shot put (39-6) and discus (129-0) and Chloe Raw of Arlington the 100 dash (12.3) and long jump (16-5.5).

    Other area event winners were Sadie Johnson of Estelline-Hendricks (300 hurdles, 47.48), Kaelyn Ulschmid of Arlington (3,200 run, 12:43.38) and Presley Knecht of Castlewood (triple jump, 32-10).

    Colman-Egan won the 400, 800, 1,600 and medley relays. Elaina Rohde ran on three of the winning relays. Daniela Lee won the`200 (26.4) and ran on the winning 400 and 800 relays.

    Boys Division Highlights

    Elkton-Lake Benton received event wins from Blake DeVries (300 hurdles, 41.14), Taiton Boersma (shot put, 47-6) and Quinten Poindexter (long jump, 21-3.5).

    Gavin Landmark (800 run, 2:06.06) and Landen Johnson (400 dash, 4:46.04) each won individual races for Deubrook Area, which also won the 1,600 (3:20.01), 3,200 (9:19.82) and medley (3:57.10 relays). Johnson ran on all three winnings relays and Landmark and Charlie Olsen two each.

    Other area event winnres included Brody Bass of Castlewood (110 hurdles, 16.45), Samuel Gigov of De Smet (discus, 132-2), Jace Vomacka of Deubrook Area (javelin, 139-11), Jake Burns of Arlington (pole vault, 11-7) and Lane Tvedt of Castlewood (triple jump, 41-9.25).
