Woman allegedly steals nearly $7K in Lafayette identity theft

LAFAYETTE, La. ( KLFY ) — A woman has been caught on camera in the midst of stealing nearly $7,000 via identity theft in Lafayette, authorities said.

Lafayette Crime Stoppers and the Lafayette Police Department are asking for help in identifying the woman pictured below in connection with an identity theft complaint reported at the AT&T store at 2429 West Congress Street in Lafayette on April 15.

The female suspect used the victim’s identity information to open an AT&T account as well as make other illegal transactions at Home Depot on Ambassador Caffery Parkway and Best Buy on Johnston Street, officials said. The total value of the theft is reported as $6,889.87.
