A car driven by an alleged drunk driver crashed into a parked car at the end of a short pursuit in Fontana on May 12, according to the Fontana Police Department. At 12:51 a.m., officers attempted to stop a black Infiniti G35 at the intersection of Weeping Willow and Canyon Crest Avenue, said Public Information Officer Daniel Romero.

Hot Rods at Pomona in 1952
Another great set of images from the Los Angeles Examiner Archives, this time shot at a Pomona hot rod timing event in April of 1952. (Note- These were shown on the HAMB way back in 2008, but the links are dead!) What we can tell from the photos was this was a city police-sanctioned event with cars racing the clock rather than each other. The photographer’s name was Mercurio and his notes include:
Fontana police release bodycam footage of traffic stop turned shooting
The Fontana Police Department released new body camera footage of a routine traffic stop turned shooting, after an armed man put an officer in a headlock. The encounter on Feb. 9, began with an officer informing the driver about a missing front license plate and dark window tint. Chief Michael Dorsey of the Fontana Police described it as a "very relaxed conversation" between the officer and the driver.
