Huge tree crushes Monrovia home; no one injured
People were inside a home in Monrovia when a huge tree toppled over and crushed it but no one was injured, police said Thursday.Authorities responded to a rescue call at the house along South Mountain Avenue just before 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. Despite extensive damage to the building, no one suffered injuries. It's not clear what caused the tree to fall, authorities said, so that remains under investigation.On Thursday morning, aerial footage shot around 7:30 a.m. showed the tree resting over the house and a van in its driveway, levelling out the home. The tree's trunk was completely uprooted from the ground, with its roots fully exposed. A stretch of Mountain Avenue between Foothill Boulevard and Wildrose Avenue remained closed Thursday morning.No other details have been released by authorities.
Hidden camera found planted outside of Chino Hills woman's home
A Chino Hills woman was disturbed to learn that a camera disguised as a rock had been planted outside of her home last week.The camera was planted in the ground across the street from her house on Glen Ridge Drive, leaving her with fear that she's being watched by someone. Amber Alert: 1-year-old boy abducted in West Covina
A man allegedly abducted his 1-year-old son in West Covina, the California Highway Patrol said Wednesday. The boy, Weston Landrum, was last seen Tuesday at 9 p.m. near North Grand Avenue and Fairway Lane, according to the CHP, which issued an Amber Alert on behalf of the West Covina Police Department.
Two, including teenager, arrested for car-to-car shooting on 210 Freeway
Two people, including a 16-year-old boy, have been arrested for a car-to-car shooting on the 210 Freeway in early April. The original incident happened back on April 2 at around 4:20 p.m., when officers were called to westbound lanes of I-210, just east of Haven Avenue in Rancho Cucamonga, according to a statement from the California Highway Patrol. They arrived to find an 18-year-old Alta Loma man suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to a nearby hospital with major injuries, police said. "After an extensive investigation, CHP Investigators arrested the 21-year-old male driver, as well as the 16-year-old male shooter, both from Rancho Cucamonga," said the CHP statement. Both of the suspects, who have not yet been identified by investigators, remain in custody and face several charges that include attempted murder and assault with a firearm, police said. A motive for the shooting remains unclear.

At 9:47 a.m., Claremont Police Department officers responded to the Metrolink parking lot in the 200 block of W. First Street regarding an encampment. Upon arrival, officers questioned Manuel Gonzales, 41, of Fontana, and Pomona resident Sierra Perry, 38. A records check of Gonzales revealed he had an outstanding misdemeanor warrant out of San Bernadino County, and a search allegedly turned up narcotics and a methamphetamine pipe. While officers spoke with Perry, a meth pipe allegedly fell out of her pant pocket. The duo was subsequently arrested, Gonzales for the warrant and for misdemeanors possession of a controlled substance and possession of unlawful paraphernalia, and Perry for misdemeanor possession of unlawful paraphernalia. They were taken to CPD jail for booking and later released with citations to appear in court.
