Commencement held for Viterbo University students

LA CROSSE (WKBT) -- College commencement is a day that many don't forget.

Family members and friends gathered at the La Crosse Center to see their loved one graduate from Viterbo University.

A total of 448 students graduated on Saturday, with 305 students receiving their undergraduate degree.

The President of Viterbo University says one student who graduated today was able to use what she learned in the classroom to save someone's life.

"We did have one student this year who was able to use what she learned in her Viterbo nursing studies to actually save someone's life, who suffered from a heart attack during a softball game. So the fact that one of our students had the training, knew what to do, remained calm and really I think changed the trajectory of a family's life that's phenomenal," said Dr. Rick Trietley.
