    Reduce, Reuse, and Reimagine

LA CROSSE (WKBT) -- As college students are moving out of their residence halls, many usable items are thrown away.

But instead of sending everything to landfills, Habitat for Humanity is bringing these items back to life at their ReStore, to be given out to other non-profits in the greater La Crosse area.

One Habitat for Humanity member says the program helps the underserved populations in the community.

"This is really important because not only is it keeping things out of the landfill, but it's reinvigorating our community. It is giving items back to non-profits who really need them to perform the essential services towards the homeless population," said Kaitlyn Wiehe, Sustainability VISTA.

She adds that Habitat for Humanity plans on hosting this event next year.

They plan on diverting over 8,000 pounds from landfills.
