    Indianapolis man arrested for attempted murder, robbery in Kokomo

    KOKOMO, Ind. — A 23-year-old Indianapolis resident has been arrested on an attempted murder charge in relation to a reported robbery at a Kokomo convenience store early Monday morning.

    According to a news release from the Kokomo Police Department, Savaughn Agnew was arrested on Monday on:

    • One count of attempted murder
    • One count of robbery
    • One count of attempted kidnapping
    • One count of possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon.

    At around 12:02 a.m. on Monday, the department responded to a reported armed robbery at a Kokomo Qwik Stop location. According to the release, dispatch told officers that a man, later identified as Agnew, reportedly shot at a woman and stole her vehicle.

    Deputies with the Howard County Sheriff’s Office located the vehicle later that morning. A traffic stop was performed on U.S. 931 near Carter and Agnew was taken into custody without incident.

    Officials said a gun Agnew reportedly threw from the vehicle was recovered by officers. The release said no injuries were sustained by the woman as a result of the shooting.

    According to the release, Agnew was transported to the Howard County Criminal Justice Center. The case remains under investigation by the Kokomo Police Department.
