Chargers edge Demons, Albia cruises by Knoxville
Chariton - Having not been in action for over one week, Albia came up just shy of registering a win against Chariton on April 22. The Demons won three singles matches and one doubles match. Matt Selby got Albia on the board with a tight 8-6 win over Gage Hart after Isaac Helm lost a close 9-7 match against Zach Poling. Following a pair of 8-2 losses, Ty Pickerell and Cain Campbell beat their respective opponents by a score of 8-2. At that point, Albia held a 3-2 lead, but Chariton re-took the lead with two straight doubles wins. The duo of Ty Pickerell and Casen Baker saved one point for the Demons with an 8-2 win, but Albia still came up one point shy. Their record on the season is 2-8 while the Chargers are now 3-8-1. The Demons still lead the conference race as the only team with two conference wins.

(Missouri Valley) -- Missouri Valley soccer standout Sophie Caniglia is ready to take her talents to the next level with Central College in Pella, Iowa. “My recruiting process was challenging because I was so late to the game,” Caniglia told KMA Sports. “I reached out to a lot of coaches, and Central was best for me academically and athletically. I really like how the coach just made sure everyone was included on the team and had really good points made out to me.”

Newton girls tennis finishes fourth at conference tournament
PELLA — Three fourth-place finishes led the Newton girls tennis team to fourth as a team during the Little Hawkeye Conference tournament on Wednesday. Lauryn Garrett and Madison Rinehart both finished fourth in their singles brackets and a Cardinals’ doubles team also took fourth. That helped Newton score 24 points in fourth.
