AP’s Lara wins at Kingsville meet

Aransas Pass’ Zyanya Lara won the 242-plus weight class at the 5th Brahma Strong Powerlifting Meet in Kingsville on Feb. 15.

Lara had a squat of 255, bench press of 180, and deadlift of 260 for a total of 695.

Aransas Pass’ Azenth Trevino and Izabell Padilla were runnersup in their unequipped divisions.

Trevino lifted a composite of 445 in the 132 weight class and Padilla had a total of 650 in the 148 weight class.

The Lady Panthers’ Audisey Sanchez was third in the 114 unequipped weight class with a total of 520. Teammates Analise Davis (510) and Allison Scott (475) followed in fourth and fifth, respectively. Six Aransas Pass lifters – Sanchez, Davis, Padilla, Scott, Lara, Victoriana Soto – qualified for the regional meet on Feb. 28-29 in Edinburg.
