Train hits front of distracted driver's truck as vehicle rolls onto track in Kleberg County
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A man stopped at a railroad track in Kleberg County was lucky to escape injury on Monday after his truck was hit by a train. The driver was in his 2007 truck at the track on County Road 2140 and Hwy. 77 between Kingsville and Ricardo when he reached over to pick up something he dropped, said Department of Public Safety Corpus Christi Sector Public Information Sgt. Ingleside’s Nathan Edlin won the shot put title at the Region IV-4A Track and Field Championships on April 20 at Texas A&M-Kingsville’s Javelina Stadium. Edlin’s winning toss was a personal-best 55 feet, 4 inches. Corpus Christi Tuloso-Midway’s Shawn Burdick was second with a mark of 53-7.25.
