KINGSPORT, Tenn. (WJHL) — A Kingsport man found in the Holston River on April 30 died from an accidental drowning, police announced on Thursday.

The Kingsport Police Department (KPD) reported officers responded to a drowning on the South Fork of the Holston River at Riverbend Park.

The body found was identified by authorities as Ronald Wayne Davidson, 75, of Kingsport.

An autopsy from the William L. Jenkins Forensic Center of the E.T.S.U. James H. Quillen College of Medicine determined Davidson’s cause of death to be an accidental drowning, the report stated.

Davidson was believed to be fishing in or around the river, the KPD previously reported.
