Counties must follow Henrico’s lead on homeless funding
Kudos to Henrico County for stating they will partner with the cityand pay for a quarter of the operating expenses for shelters for the homeless in Richmond. The total amount appropriated by Richmond at this time is $4 million, so they will allocate $1 million out of their budget to help with the homeless crisis.

Henrico, state both witness drop in unemployment rate in April
Henrico’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate dropped to 2.3% in April, while Virginia’s statewide rate fell to 2.8%, according to new data. Henrico’s rate was down from 2.5% in March and from 2.4% last April. The state’s rate was 0.1 percentage point lower than the previous month and 1.1 points lower than the national rate. In Henrico, only 4,448 people who were actively seeking work in April were unable to find it, down from 4,768 in March and 4,615 in April 2023.
Henrico citizens encouraged to take Community Health Assessment
The Richmond and Henrico Health Districts are encouraging Henrico and Richmond citizens to complete an anonymous community health survey that aims to improve the overall health and quality of life for residents of both localities. The Community Health Assessment asks residents about what’s helping their neighborhoods stay healthy and well, and about which communities need more resources to solve harder problems.
