Hulman will bump, set and spike for Bryant and Stratton College
ANTIGO — Antigo’s Layla Hulman will soon be trading in her Red Robin wings for a chance to play as a Bobcat. The Antigo High School senior has committed to continue her volleyball and academic career by attending Bryant and Stratton College in Wauwatosa. “Throughout her time with Antigo volleyball, Layla has demonstrated dedication, hard work and leadership both on and off the court,” coach Brinna Mauk said during recent Senior Night festivities at Sheldon Fieldhouse. A daughter of Anthony (Michelle) Hulman and Calla (Nathan) Scheel, Hulman has cited her intention to pursue a nursing degree while also playing volleyball for the Bobcat squad. “As a senior captain, she has been an important part of our program in setting an example for her teammates,” Mauk continued, giving kudos to the middle hitter who has earned frequent accolades both on and off the court. Bryant and Stratton is a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association, the second largest national intercollegiate athletic organization in the U.S., featuring over 500 member schools across 44 states. “We can’t wait to see what her future holds,” Mauk said.

No additional bedbugs found during Waukesha elementary school inspections

Lowell Elementary School Principal Marlene Figueroa announced Waukesha School District maintenance staff and an outside pest control company investigated two classrooms identified as potential areas of concern, along with several other areas of the school. The investigation showed two bedbugs were found on a staff member's clothing and another was found in a small pouch Oct. 12. All three were associated with the same classroom. Another bedbug was found on a student's clothing in the school's office area. The student was also associated with the same classroom. A second classroom was identified as a potential area of concern because the student briefly entered that classroom, Figueroa said. No bedbugs were found during visual inspections of multiple areas throughout the school Oct. 13, including the classroom most directly associated with the initial findings. However, that classroom will remain closed Oct. 14 as a precaution. A trained bedbug detection K9 is scheduled to inspect the classroom Oct. 15 to determine whether additional action is necessary.
