One hospitalized following major accident east of Kermit

WINKLER COUNTY, Texas (KMID/KPEJ) – Update: One individual was transported to the hospital and the roadway has been reopened.

Deputies with the Winkler County Sheriff’s Office responded to State Highway 302 in reference to a major accident Thursday afternoon.

The Sheriff’s Office said there was a major accident on State Highway 302, near mile marker 229, east of Kermit. Law enforcement and Winkler County EMS are on the scene, with the Winkler County Fire Department on the way. One individual was reported to be trapped.

Drivers are currently being asked to expect significant delays and find alternate routes if possible.
