In March 2021, The Washington Post reported that children playing in the Seaford area of York, Virginia, found a Civil War-era cannonball buried two feet underground. The children took it to their parents, who called 911. The York-Poquoson Sheriff's office said the cannonball was to be disposed of by an explosion.
