    EF-1 Tornadoes from Joplin to Carthage say National Weather Service survey teams

    Captured by Carterville Police Officer Curt Moseby, EF-1 funnel cloud traveling Joplin-Duquesne and crossing 249. He was able to alert his city along with the Carterville Fire Dept.

    JOPLIN, Mo. (KOAM) - The National Weather Service investigators came to view damage today in the Joplin-Duquesne and Jasper County area.

    We now know the video Carterville Police Officer Curt Moseby captured was an EF-1 funnel cloud traveling Joplin-Duquesne and crossing 249. He was able to alert his city along with the Carterville Fire Dept.

    "NWS Survey teams confirmed three tornadoes occurred late Monday night into early Tuesday morning. Additional straight-line wind damage was found across other parts of the area. NWS Springfield will continue to investigate a few additional areas of damage in the coming days."

    "NWS Storm Survey found a EF-1 Tornado with an intermittent damage path across the southeast and east side of Joplin into Duquesne. Numerous tree limb damage and uprooted trees along with powerline damage. Shingle loss on homes. Additional roof damage caused by flying debris."

    NWS Storm Report EF1 Tornado West of Carthage-Jasper County

    "NWS Storm Survey found an EF-1 tornado just west of Carthage. Maximum winds were estimated at 95 mph. Trees were uprooted, powerlines were snapped and several roofs were damaged. Damage in Carthage was the result of widespread 70-80 mph straight line winds winds across Carthage with numerous tree limbs down and trees uprooted."

    JOPLIN, Mo. (KOAM) — Last evening during a severe weather event some homes on the eastern side of Joplin sustained major damage. Specifically Greenwood Drive, 1 block east of 9th and Rex.

    JOPLIN, Mo. (KOAM) — Thousands are without power due to thunderstorms and a radar-indicated tornado. Carterville Police Officer Curt Moseby caught what appears to be a funnel cloud in the Duquesne area that traveled across 249.
