YORK COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) — Pennsylvania State Police have released new details on what led to a deadly York County crash in April that took the lives of two Somerset County men and a Cambria County man.

Jesse McKenzie, 24, of Rockwood, Philson Hinebaugh III, 24, of Johnstown, and Robert Hampe, 41, of Meyersdale, were killed after a vehicle drove into a construction zone and struck all three men on April 17. A freightliner truck was traveling on Interstate 83 South at what was consider to be a speed greater than what would be considerable, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

The driver entered an active work zone and fell asleep behind the wheel, which caused him to sideswipe a parked truck. The freightliner then struck all three men, who were construction workers, and continued up a grass embankment.
