If the secret's in the sauce, a woman-owned company in Johnstown wants to tell you a secret, or 12.

Spice Sisters craft condiments company owners Margaret Brabham and Yasmeen Hasan, specialize in globally inspired, fair trade spices and they have been working with Gannon's Bee Hive program , which helps small companies get off the ground. They are planning a 12-course tasting event at Gannon University on May 18.

"We are excited to be working with the Erie Bee Hive to launch a Kickstarter campaign this year," the owners said in a written statement.

"Even though we aren't located in Erie, we heard about them and their outstanding success helping small businesses succeed with crowdfunding while giving Gannon Students valuable professional experience," the statement read. "We will be hosting a 12-course tasting menu with fabulous 'tastes' using our products."

The event is $50 per person (It's a fundraiser after all.) The menu for the event, which is taking place in Gannon's main lobby at 900 State St., features 12 courses.

"Our goal is to let ... Erie know about how the Bee Hive is attracting attention across the state of Pennsylvania, how they are helping us bring our delicious spice blends and condiments to Kickstarter and your city as well as the ... collaborations we are planning with various local venues and Mercy Center for Women."

Some of the Spice Sisters' products are available at the Erie Food Co-op . More are available at spicesisters.com as well as SpiceSistersCafe on Instagram , Facebook and YouTube .

"Spice Sisters came about when two women who didn't have a lot in common at first glance sat down and shared our lunches and then hours of table talk," the statement reads. "We both believe that 'breaking bread' is an incredibly effective way to build bridges and find common ground."
