    POLICE: Bedford County man caught with heroin, meth after shoplifting

    CAMBRIA COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) — A Bedford County man is facing charges after he was allegedly caught with drugs after stealing from a Johnstown Walmart.

    Joseph Tinkey, 27, is facing drug and retail theft charges after he was allegedly caught stealing and officers found multiple drugs in his bag and car. On May 7, officers from the Richland Township Police Department were called to the Walmart on Town Centre Drive for a report of a man who had been caught stealing, according to the criminal complaint.

    Once at the scene officers were given footage that allegedly showed Tinkey hiding items in his bag and then attempting to leave the store without paying. In a search of Tinkey’s bag officers located a Pokémon container with three glass containers. One of the containers had methamphetamine and the others had heroin in it, according to the affidavit.

    Officers then asked Tinkey if he had drugs in his car and Tinkey allegedly admitted that he had an eight ball. Tinkey consented to have his vehicle searched, according to the complaint.

    Officers found the following in his car:

    • A bag with white residue
    • A green drug kit with syringes and a crack pipe

    Officers also found a black lock box and Tinkey allegedly gave consent to open it. In the box were the following items:

    • One black digital scale
    • One suspected eight ball of methamphetamine
    • One bag containing four suspected heroin capsules
    • One bag containing five suspected heroin capsules
    • One bag of suspected heroin
    • One glass container with 11 suspected heroin capsules
    • $1,200 in cash
    • Two syringes

    Officers also found the following items during another search:

    • $417 in cash
    • One container of suspected methamphetamine
    • One bag containing two capsules of suspected heroin
    • One glass container of suspected heroin
    • One syringe
    • One crack pipe
    • One red and silver vile containing suspected heroin
    • One green container with three syringes

    Tinkey is in Cambria County Prison with bail set at 10% of $75,000. He is facing charges of possession with the intent to deliver, retail theft and possession of drug paraphernalia.
