Hundreds fed during annual Johnson City first responder lunch

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (WJHL) – An annual lunch that aims to feed hundreds of first responders in the Johnson City area continued for its fifth year Monday.

The lunch is held through a partnership between The Firehouse restaurant and Morris Baker Funeral Home.

“My grandfather, Carson Baker, was an honorary fireman, and it was just an opportunity for us to say thank you every year, and it’s just been one of our favorite days of the year,” said Preston McKee, owner of Morris Baker Funeral Home.

“Working with the people at Morris Baker and Preston, who initially got this started doing it on their own, it’s just been a great fit to do it together through two local businesses,” Justin Seaton with The Firehouse said.

The restaurant and funeral home planned to feed 350-400 first responders.
