Hillsdale Academy track teams win team regional titles; multiple Colts qualify for state
HILLSDALE — Hillsdale Academy hosted the Division 4, Region 35 championships at the new track facility in Hayden Park. The Colts have played the role of hosts for this regional for several seasons. However, this was the first year the event was moved from Muddy Waters Stadium at Hillsdale College to Hayden Park.
Grass Lake sweeps way to Cascades Conference title
GRASS LAKE -- As has been the case since 2021, the Cascades Conference championship in the bat-and-ball sports runs through Grass Lake. On Monday, a week after the Warrior softball team clinched the conference title for the fourth year in a row, the Warriors took the baseball title for the fourth year in a row as well, sweeping Columbia Central in the first two games of the best-of-three conference championship series.
Lumen Christi tops Onsted for Al Glick softball crown
JACKSON -- Big innings weren’t there for the Lumen Christi softball team on Saturday in the final of the Al Glick Classic against Onsted. But a run here and a run there, as well as locked-in pitching from Bella Wrozek in the circle, led the Titans to a 6-1 win over the Wildcats.
Columbia Central sprinter, hurdler voted top Jackson-area spring sports junior
JACKSON -- Columbia Central’s Melyssa McJennett was voted the top spring sports junior in the Jackson area. McJennett has been a mainstay of the Golden Eagles sprints, hurdles and long jump this spring, putting up four first-place finishes in the 300 hurdles, three in the 100 hurdles, two in the 100 and three in the long jump.
Golf: Hillsdale Academy athletes have career-best days to dominate SCAA championship
HILLSDALE — Hillsdale Academy golf had their eyes set on several goals for their 2023-24 season. The first of which was to have an undefeated season in jamboree league play, and to win their fourth straight SCAA conference championship. Hillsdale Academy accomplished both of those goals this season, closing the chapter on the SCAA on Monday by winning the conference championship jamboree.
Norwood's big day leads Concord past Lakeland
Noah Norwood had a triple, his first career homer and drove in five runs on Saturday to lead the Concord baseball team to an 11-4 victory over Lakeland. Garrett Stewart had four hits and drove in three runs for Concord, while senior Braeden Messenger recorded his 100th career hit with a first inning double.
