Kramschuster sends two out of the park as Sun Prairie East run-rules Janesville Craig

State-ranked Sun Prairie East paid Janesville Craig a visit Wednesday at the Youth Sports Complex and showed why they’re among the top 10 teams in Division 1, according to the state softball coaches association.

McKenna Gross threw a six-inning, one-hit shutout with 10 strikeouts against a usually strong Cougars lineup and Grace Kramschuster sent out a pair of home runs as the No. 8 Cardinals beat Craig 10-0.

Kramschuster’s first homer came in the top of the first with Abby Packard already on base to give the Cardinals a quick 2-0 lead. Her second blast came in the second with two on and put her team up 5-0.

The Cougars opted not to pitch to her for the rest of the night, but the damage had already been done.

Tayler Baker also drove in two runs for East.

Craig’s one hit came in the fourth inning off the bat of Bella Vitaioli. The Cougars put runners at second and third with one out in the fourth but couldn’t cash in.

Cougars pitcher Maddie Schieve recorded six strikeouts.

The next game for Craig is scheduled to be at East at 5 p.m. Monday.
