KILGORE — The Region 7 Education Service Center announced that Diana Smith from Edgewood ISD and Cheli Vasquez from Jacksonville ISD are the regional Elementary and Secondary Teachers of the Year on Thursday at a reception and luncheon honoring all nominees. Rusk man dies after getting ejected from vehicle in Cherokee County
RUSK, Texas — A Rusk man is dead following a single car wreck Thursday night in Cherokee County. According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, at around 8:30 p.m. Thursday night James Burns, 36, was driving south on US ighway 69 near Rusk when he lost control of the vehicle and struck a tree.
