Target. Publix. Home Depot. Kohl’s.

They’ve all been fixtures at OakLeaf Plantation for more than 16 years, along with newer arrivals HomeGoods, Hobby Lobby and Aldi.

However, one big-box retailer — the nation’s biggest — doesn't have a presence in the Southwest Jacksonville development: Walmart.

That’s about to change.

Is Walmart coming to OakLeaf Plantation?

According to plans recently filed with city, the retail giant is planning a 176,360-square-foot supercenter store in a new development in the southwest corner of the First Coast Expressway-Oakleaf Plantation Parkway interchange.

How many Walmart stores are in Jacksonville?

The store would be the 15th supercenter-format Walmart store in Duval County.

Will the new OakLeaf Walmart store have a gas station?

In addition to the combination department-grocery store, Walmart is planning an attached 4,365-square-foot liquor store and a 1,358-square-foot gas station with 20 fueling stations in one of eight outparcels planned for the project.

What else is planned at the Walmart-anchored retail center?

The remaining outparcels, ranging in size from about 1 acre to 1.5 acres, are expected to include a car wash, general retail and restaurants, according to plans filed with JEA. None have been identified.

The entrance to the 63-acre retail center will be opposite Cecil Connector Road.

Bentonville, Arkansas-based Walmart is developing the project.
