    Jackson student wins 2024 Amazon Future Engineer Scholarship

    JACKSON, Miss. ( WJTV ) – A Forest Hill High School senior received a $40,000 scholarship towards the college/university of her choice.

    According to the Jackson Public School District (JPS), Kiesa Currie-Kimball aims to pursue a career in software programming and cybersecurity. She received the funds from the 2024 Amazon Future Engineer Scholarship.

    Currie-Kimball was one of two students selected from Mississippi. She will receive up to $40,000 in tuition to attend the college of her choice and a paid internship offer at Amazon after her first year of college.

    “Yes, this was it, and when I found out, it was a surprise,” Currie-Kimball stated. “I was really excited!”

    She is now trying to decide where she will spend the next four years – University of Mississippi or Mississippi State.
