Tomekia Reed received a sizeable raise when she left Jackson State on April 25 to become the women's basketball coach at Charlotte.

Reed signed a five-year, $1.5 million deal to coach the 49ers, according to a copy of the contract the Clarion Ledger obtained through a public records request.

Reed went 125-54 in six seasons at Jackson State. The Tigers made three NCAA Women's Tournament appearances and won five consecutive Southwestern Athletic Conference regular-season championships while she was coach.

Two of Reed's former Jackson State players, Ameshya William-Holliday and Angel Jackson, drafted by the WNBA in 2022 and 2024 respectively.

One of Reed's players at Jackson State, Daphane White, announced May 6 she would transfer to Charlotte.
