University officials said this will help many students who face food insecurity.

“Students shouldn’t have to come to school and have to make a decision between academics and nutrition. And when you think about our purpose, feeding the human spirit, it creates an opportunity for us to invest within the community and a food pantry creates that opportunity. Our purpose aligned with what the university is doing. And so, today we have a chance to come out here and invest $40,000, more importantly, not just to create the pantry, but to create an opportunity for students for a need in particular,” said Michael Cristal, president of the Kroger Delta Division.

The food pantry is located in the Campbell Dormitory.
