Lighting Ceremony Celebrates DART Silver Line Bridge Arches
The accent lighting on the arches on the Silver Line bridge over US 75 is officially on. A “lighting ceremony” was held last night featuring members of the Richardson City Council and DART. The white and blue lighting provide color to the arches, which were installed in June and July. They are about 400 feet long and 80 feet above the roadway at their highest point. The bridge serves as a gateway and visual branding for the city for both rail passengers and drivers on US 75.

Frisco Celebrates Completion Of $83 Million Rail District Revamp
Downtown Frisco officially has a new gathering place, wider sidewalks and hundreds of additional parking spaces after the city completed an $83 million redevelopment of its historic Rail District. City leaders, residents and business owners gathered Oct. 13 at 4th Street Plaza to celebrate the completion of the project, which included rebuilding Elm and Main streets, opening a five-story parking garage and creating a new public plaza for performances and community events. “It’s no secret the Rail District and events that bring our community together, particularly in a growing city like Frisco, are high priorities for me,” said Mayor Mark Hill during the ribbon-cutting ceremony. “I’m thrilled to see this Rail District centerpiece come to life.” During the opening ceremony, former Mayor Jeff Cheney recalled how the Rail District redevelopment began with a question from his son, Zach, nearly 15 years ago. “Why is everything in Frisco nice except our downtown?” Cheney recalled Zach asking. The question stayed with him, and during his tenure as mayor, he worked alongside city council members and countless city staff to make revitalizing downtown a priority.
