Caitlin Clark is at a career crossroads.

The 22-year-old University of Iowa star capped her collegiate career last week, and now she stands poised to be the top pick in Monday night’s WNBA draft.

But before the Indiana Fever reveals Clark as the No. 1 selection, she took time out to make a star turn on NBC’s Saturday Night Live —and the result was unforgettable.

Cast member Michael Che teed up Clark’s appearance on the Weekend Update skit with a deliberately sexist joke.

“The University of Iowa announced that basketball star Caitlin Clark will have her jersey retired … and replaced with an apron,” Che said, followed by a long pause for the audience’s cool reaction. “Well, the WNBA draft is this Monday, and Iowa star Caitlin Clark is expected to be the No. 1 pick. Here to comment is Caitlin Clark.”

Said Clark, “I heard that little apron joke you did. … You make a lot of jokes about women’s sports, don’t you, Michael?”

After a clip reel of myriad Che jokes about women’s sports, Clark asked him to read a series of jokes about him purportedly written by Clark. The result was epic.

After reading a series of savage self-owns, Che received a signed apron from Clark to cap the skit.

“Thank you,” Che said. “I can’t wait to give this to my girlfriend.”

Said Clark, “You don’t have a girlfriend, Michael.”

Boom.

The WNBA draft is Monday at 7:30 p.m. ET in Brooklyn, and the Fever are on the clock with the No. 1 pick.
