Kate Martin Sends Wholesome Message to Caitlin Clark Before First WNBA Faceoff

Kate Martin and Caitlin Clark were best friends during their time as Iowa Hawkeyes teammates. They arrived at Iowa as part of the same recruiting class, and instantly bonded over their similar personalities and passion for basketball.

Then the dynamic duo produced an iconic four-year run at Iowa, which culminated with two straight trips to the NCAA National Championship game.

While Martin and Clark ultimately came up short in both games, that doesn't take away from the legendary legacy they left at the school.

Then both women were drafted in the 2024 WNBA Draft, with Clark getting selected by the Indiana Fever and Martin taken by the Las Vegas Aces.

And on Saturday, they'll be opponents for the first time.

Although in a recent interview, Martin made it clear that she's more excited to see her friend than compete against her.

“I miss [Clark] a lot,” Martin said. “I spent every day with her the last four years, and I haven’t seen her in like a month and a half. I’m excited to see her, and obviously it’s going to be a good game. It’s going to be a fun environment.”

Expect some heartfelt moments between these two on Saturday.
