Leading in suspended game, Cougars could have claimed Sectional baseball championship
CHARLES TOWN — Dancing through or around the rain drops is not a baseball skill. If it were, Jefferson High School’s youthful Cougars could have won themselves another Sectional championship last Saturday on the road at Washington High School. Already a two-time winner in the double elimination tournament,...
A special place with a special mayor
Ten years ago, looking for a place to live, I drove into Shepherdstown. Virtually everyone I met used the same words, “Shepherdstown is a special place.”. One of the people I ran into was Jim Auxer, the mayor. We chatted for a long time. Back in the northern Virginia suburbs, I hardly knew the people on my block, let alone the mayor. Did we even have a mayor? Who could say?

In support of James Gatz for Shepherstown mayor
I’m writing today in support of James Gatz for mayor of Shepherdstown. Although I do not live in town limits, town politics greatly affect me as a business owner in the Corporation of Shepherdstown. For years, I have lamented the lack of connection, concern and support from town leadership.

The right mayor for what Shepherdstown needs
I am writing this letter to encourage Shepherdstown residents to support Jim Auxer for another term as mayor of Shepherdstown. My husband and I had the pleasure of meeting Mayor Auxer fairly soon after we moved to Shepherdstown and he quickly became a friend. I see Shepherdstown as my home, even though I don’t live within the town limits. We wish we were able to vote in the Shepherdstown election.
