Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay is no stranger to dropping social media content that immediately leads to media firestorms and Tuesday was no exception.

As the NFL schedule release for the 2024 season quickly approaches, the league has seemingly made an effort to avoid spilling the beans on the release date. At the 2024 NFL Draft, the league announced it was being announced on May yet refused to provide an exact date.

At one point, FOX 8 sports managing editor Garland Gillen reported on Twitter/X the schedule was going to drop on Thursday May 9th. Thirty minutes afterward, CBS insider Jonathan Jones pushed back with a report claiming "there's no firm date ready to be announced at this time." Jones did point out sources expected the release to happen this week and "potentially" on Thursday.

For some reason, the league has tried to be very secretive about the whole thing. That's why Irsay's tweet on Tuesday likely pissed off the league as he typed "I smell a 2024 SCHEDULE coming out soon."

Although there's no way of knowing for sure and this is purely speculation, evidence is sure mounting up quickly for NFL fans. If there's truth to Irsay's tweet, it sounds like we're only a couple of days away from learning what the schedule for the 2024 regular season looks like.

I'll give it to Jim, though: There's literally no reason to treat this like it's the Coca-Cola secret formula. Just let us know already!
