Colts 1st round pick Laiatu Latu's jersey number might have just gotten leaked

Now that we know who the Indianapolis Colts drafted in the 2024 NFL Draft, one big question remains on all fans' minds.

What jersey numbers will the rookie class select? We just might have found out the jersey number for their first-round pick, Laiatu Latu.

The Sack Summit is an event for "Linking & learning with the league's top pass rushers" run by NFL defensive linemen Maxx Crosby, Cam Jordan, and Von Miller. Today, they posted on their Instagram account that Latu will be attending this year's event, which is scheduled for June 28th-30th. The post also included a jersey number for Latu, 97.

There has not been an official announcement about what jersey number Latu or any other Colts rookie might be wearing. This isn't all that shocking, as the team typically waits until right before rookie minicamp to announce rookie jersey numbers.

And while we can't be sure if the Sack Summit's post, including number 97, is accurate, this is the first bit of info pointing to any specific number for Latu. During his post-drat press conference, he made it clear that he hoped he could convince Joe Flacco to give him number 15. And with this being Flacco's first year with the Colts and him wearing multiple numbers during his career already, I'd be pretty surprised if he doesn't end up letting Latu have his preferred number. So, who knows, maybe 97 is Latu's official number, or perhaps it's just a placeholder until he can get 15 from Flacco.
