WEST VIRGINIA (LOOTPRESS) – Three people died in three separate house fires in West Virginia over the past weekend.

According to the West Virginia State Fire Marshal’s Office (WVSFMO), the first fire happened in Spencer in Roane County, on Friday evening around 8:00 P.M.

A 67-year-old man died in a fire at his home in the 100 block of Spencer Avenue.

Investigators with the West Virginia State Fire Marshal’s Office have ruled the cause of the fire as undetermined but most likely accidental due to an electrical malfunction.

The second occurred early Saturday morning around 2:00 A.M. in Rock Cave in Upshur County.

An 81-year-old man died in that fire, located in the 2100 block of Gaines Road. It has been ruled as accidental in cause by WVSFMO investigators.

The third happened early this morning in Hurricane in Putnam County.

A 56-year-old female died in a fire at an apartment complex located in the 2700 block of Putnam Avenue. The cause of that fire is still under investigation by the WVSFMO.

All three victims have been sent to the WV Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsy and positive identification.
