HUNTINGTON, WV (WOWK) – Drivers in Huntington will need to prepare for a traffic change on Hal Greer Boulevard next week.

According to the West Virginia Department of Transportation, the shift will start at 9 a.m. Monday, May 6, between 6th Avenue and 9th Avenue to allow crews to begin demolition on the southbound sidewalk in the viaduct. The shift is expected to cause delays, so drivers should plan to adjust their commute schedules.

WVDOT officials say the northbound traffic will shift to the right side of the road, next to the new shared-use path and southbound traffic will shift into Hal Greer Boulevard’s median turn lane. Officials say pedestrian traffic will move to the northbound shared-use path.

Officials with the WVDOT say drivers should use extra caution in the area, especially around flaggers, workers and equipment.
