OTTAWA COUNTY — The newest member of the Ottawa County Board of Commissioners has officially taken office. Chris Kleinjans was sworn in as the District 2 commissioner Tuesday, May 28, ahead of the board’s monthly evening meeting. He defeated Ottawa Impact-affiliated Republican Lucy Ebel in a recall election May 7. It's the first time in known history two Democrats have served on the board.
