HOWELL — After four hours and 10 innings of baseball, 24 runs crossing the plate and the use of 10 pitchers, nothing was resolved between the Brighton and Howell baseball teams Monday.

The neighboring rivals walked off the field as darkness began to descend around 8:30 p.m., having played to a 12-12 tie over the course of 10 innings.

The game will resume at 4 p.m. Wednesday in the top of the 11th inning prior to the teams’ scheduled game at Brighton.

Brighton twice held leads in what could have been the final inning, only to see the game extended by a Howell rally.

The Bulldogs took a 10-7 lead into the bottom of the seventh before the Highlanders scored three times to force extra innings.

Howell scored in the seventh on a double by Brett Parris, a sacrifice fly by Josh Soneral and a two-out single to right by Daniel Hampton.

The Bulldogs regained the lead in the top of the ninth, scoring two runs on a single by Lane Petit and a sacrifice fly by Cooper Andrzejewski.

Howell again responded, making it 12-11 on a single by Hampton and tying the game when Justin Jones scored on a wild pitch.

The Highlanders used seven pitchers, with only three going more than one inning. Brighton used three pitchers.

The big blow was a three-run homer in the third by Petit, who has six home runs.

Hampton went 5-for-6 with three runs batted in, Andrew Hiller 3-for-5 with three runs and Parris 2-for-6 with three RBIs for Howell.
