HOUSTON ( KIAH ) – A cold front is moving southward through Texas Thursday, creating an environment where severe storms could erupt. The highest likelihood of severe weather will be in North and Central Texas, but it’s possible as far south as San Antonio and Houston.

The Storm Prediction Center says there is a chance for very large hail that could be larger than two inches in diameter, and straight-line wind gusts could reach or even exceed 75 mph.

Houston’s rain chance is low at 20%, meaning there won’t be a lot of rain coverage. However, of the isolated storms that do form, they could be intense. That chance exists mainly between 7 p.m. and 1 a.m.
