Duke Johnson, who played for multiple NFL teams during his career, announced his retirement this weekend.

The former standout at the University of Miami enjoyed a near-ten-year career in the NFL. Johnson’s career took him through the Houston Texans and the Cleveland Browns, most prominently, with stops in Jacksonville, Buffalo, and Miami mixed in.

Johnson announced his retirement in a post on his Instagram account.

Johnson earned All-ACC honors in his college days at Miami during the 2014 season. He also won the ACC Rookie of the Year Award in 2012 and the conference’s Offensive Player of the Year award in 2014 as well. Johnson earned Second Team All-ACC honors in 2012 and 2013.

He was a third-round pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, so he parlayed that college success into a good landing spot and enjoyed a successful eight-year career. He didn’t see the field during the 2023 season, but now we won’t have to wonder if he’ll participate in 2024.

Johnson rushed for over 2,000 yards and recorded over 2,000 receiving yards in his career. His best season came in the 2019 season with the Texans when he ran for 410 yards. He finished with 2,265 rushing yards and 2,870 receiving yards. He’ll end his NFL career with 23 total touchdowns.

Best of luck to Duke Johnson in retirement.
