Kip Henley, Grayson Murray’s former caddie, has commented on Murray’s sudden and tragic passing at only 30.

The news of Murray’s death hit the golf world hard . Few people in golf knew Murray better than his longtime caddie.

On Saturday, Henley released a series of messages on X (formerly Twitter) talking about Murray.

“To all reaching out to me thank you. I’m lost for words. Im still in shock having just heard a few mins ago. The kid had a heart of gold but could be tortured soul at times. My heart and prayers go out to his beautiful family. They are sweetest people who couldn’t have loved their son anymore than they did. Sorry if I don’t reach out to all the messages,” Henley said in the first message .

“Grayson was in the hands of the Lord. If you are too you will get to see him again soon,” he added in a second message .

“Something was telling me to reach out to the kid the last few days and I didn’t. 100 people mentioned him to me for some reason. I should have mended our fences way better and so sad I didn’t. Speaking and working things out will ALWAYS be the best for ourselves and especially others,” Henley said in his next message . His fourth and (to date) final message on the matter simply said, “Damn it Grayson.”

Murray won a pair of events on the Korn Ferry Tour in 2023. Despite that, in November, Henley revealed on X that Murray had “decided to ‘go in another direction.'”

Henley later clarified , “I’m disappointed and sad it worked out this way but believe it or not I’m not really mad a Grayson. He’s not a bad person. It’s just a tough relationship out there at times. I spent the better part of 10 years with one dude and we are still dear friends. I’m still buds with most everyone I ever worked for.”

Murray, who had been open about his past struggles , continued his winning ways in 2024, winning the Sony Open in Hawaii in January. He withdrew from the Charles Schwab Challenge on Friday with two holes remaining in his round, citing an illness.
