MONTGOMERY COUNTY, PA (KYW Newsradio) — A Horsham Township jewelry store employee shot a suspected burglar in the arm Wednesday morning.

Police say just before 5 a.m. a group broke into several businesses in the Shoppes at English Village, off Bethlehem Pike. One of those businesses was Jems Jewels & Gold.

Officials say an employee there interrupted the burglary and shot one of the suspects in the arm. Police say an unknown number of suspects fled the scene before they arrived.

The wounded suspect was taken to an area hospital for treatment where he’s reported to have non-life-threatening injuries.

According to our partners at NBC10, the suspects got inside the jewelry store by breaking into the business next door and punching a hole through the wall to gain access.

It's unclear if anything was stolen.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Horsham Township Criminal Investigations Division .
