Blotter Briefs
Briefs Sulphur Springs and Hopkins County law enforcement and emergency services activity from 5:30 a.m. Friday to 5:30 a.m. Tuesday included:. Deputies stopped a motorcyclist for speeding on the south Interstate 30 east service road at mile marker 122 at 9:41 p.m. As the bike was pulled to the side of the road, the deputy noticed that it did not have a visible license plate. The man originally identified himself using his birth date but another male’s name, while claiming to have a Texas ID under that name. When a records check showed no record of that person, deputies investigated further. The man was then identified as Garry Don Simpson, a 34-year-old Brownsboro man. He was taken into custody. Deputies found a wallet with the man’s identification information on it, showing him to be Simpson, in the nearby ditch. The man reportedly admitted at that point to throwing the wallet into the ditch to avoid being identified because he thought he had an outstanding warrant. For his efforts, Simpson was taken into custody and booked into the county jail on a Class B misdemeanor failure to identify by giving false or fictitious information charge, deputies alleged in arrest reports.
