New location, same traditions for Lake Taco
HOOD RIVER — Since Lake Taco first opened in 2014, they have been known as one of the most authentic Mexican restaurants in Hood River. One example is written on a chalk board sign in the restaurant entrance. The sign and the message has followed them from their previous location on the Heights to their new home in downtown. The message reads, “We do not mass produce for speed or compromise our quality for volume.”The family-owned business is a favorite of every visitor who walks through the front door from high school students to former NBA superstars like Scottie Pippen.
The Dalles team breaking home run records brings home another win
THE DALLES Ore. (KPTV) - The 4A OSAA softball quarterfinals saw the second-seeded Riverhawks hosting No. 10 Astoria from 16th Street ballpark along the mighty Columbia River. The Dalles have a bunch of boppers who ended Friday with an Oregon state record for all classifications with 68 homers in 27 games. The previous high-water mark was 56.
Three ciders from Double Mountain Brewery
Hood River’s Double Mountain Brewery revamped the look for its line of ciders this year, one that is inspired by matchbook designs from the 1940s and 1950s according to the press release. Along with the new designs, the brewery slated six ciders for release this year, and sent me three to review. Let’s just get right to it.
Hood River Fire & EMS Awarded Grant Funding
Hood River Fire & EMS is celebrating good news after receiving $384,025 in grant funding from the Oregon State Fire Marshal (OSFM). The grant will provide financial support to staff an additional firefighter over the course of three years – 90% the first year, 75% the second, and 50% the third year. Beginning on the fourth year, the City would be responsible for paying the full salary.
