On Friday, May 24, at noon, Honesdale Borough is slated to dedicate the new concert stage, which has not yet been used for an event. The expandable, moveable stage will first be used for the Memorial Day ceremony on May 27 which follows the 10 a.m. parade.
Kielar said the stage will be named for the late Arthur E. Fasshauer and the late Mae Figura. Fasshauer, a Honesdale clothing merchant, started the WCCAC and summer concert series in 1967. Fasshauer ran it for 30 years until he retired. Figura directed the series after Fasshauer until she retired in 2016.
The series continued every summer except 2020, due to the COVID pandemic.
WCCAC purchased its own stage set on a flatbed trailer about 13 years ago; it was eventually named in memory of Fasshauer.
