HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) – Members of the community came together this morning in Holyoke in observance of National Day of Prayer.

This annual observance is held on the first Thursday of May, inviting people to pray for the nation.

It exists to communicate to every individual the need for personal repentance and prayer
and to mobilize the Christian community to intercede for America’s leaders and its families. Theresa Temple the pastor of First Baptist Church in Holyoke believes that it’s important to come together through christ.

She told 22News, “So many people are doing things out there on their own but when you come in unity together, more hands are better than just two. It is very important that, as a people, we come with so much division all around us, we come together in unity and begin to pray for one another, pray for our communities, pray for our nations because that is the answer.”

For many, prayer is an integral part of daily life. Prayer offers a rich connection to our spiritual lives, nurturing our relationships and faith.

It also provides comfort in times of crisis or times of need.
