HOLLIDAYSBURG, Pa. (WTAJ) — The Hollidaysburg Shade Tree Commission will be hosting an Arbor Day ceremony this Friday.

On April 26 at 11 a.m., the ceremony along with a tree planting will take place in front of Highland Hall (500 block of Walnut Street). An October Glory maple tree will be planted.

Mayor Joe Dodson will begin the ceremony by issuing a proclamation announcing Arbor Day in the Borough of Hollidaysburg. Fire & Service Forester Mandy Burgoon and Assistant Director for Stewardship Protection & Conservation Matthew Keefer from the Bureau of Forestry will be in attendance to present the borough with the 35th Year Tree City USA Award.

Volunteers from the Walmart Altoona store and a group of local homeschool students and their family members will help the Public Works employees to plant the tree.
